The national Under-21 football team of Moldova lost the away match with Malta of the 2017 UEFA European Championship. Moldova was beaten by 3-2 and finished last in the group, IPN reports.
The hosts were leading close to the end of the first half by 2-0, after Borg scored in the 40th minute and Camenzuli in the 45th minute. Moldova later tied through Taras (53rd) and Svinarenko (65th, penalty), but Malta took again the lead in two minutes, following the goal scored by Mbong.
If Moldova had scored a victory, it would have ranked fourth in the group, ahead of Malta and Latvia. But the team trained by Danut Oprea was also outstripped by Latvia, which surprisingly won against Belgium away 1-0.
