The national Under 21 football team of Moldova ranked fourth at the international tournament “Valery Lobanovski” held in Kiev. After scoring a 0-5 draw with Ukraine, the team trained by Veaceslav Ursachi lost to Greece 0-2, IPN reports.
At the end of the match, both of the teams received by a cup for taking part in the memorial tournament “Valery Lobanovski”. The competition was won by Slovenia, which beat Ukraine 5-3 in the penalty shootout.
The national U-21 team of Moldova has taken part in this tournament in 2006 and 2007 too and finished also fourth then.
On June 11, Moldova meets Malta in Chisinau. The game forms part of the qualifying rounds of the 2017 European Championship.
