The national U-18 men’s basketball squad of Moldova has qualified for the Division C semifinals of the European Championships that are taking place in Andorra.
In the qualifying round, Moldova won against Wales 83-82 and San Marino 90-55, securing the first place, IPN reports.
The national team leader Vladislav Solopa scored 45 points in the match against San Marino on July 16, when he celebrated his birthday. The 18-year-old sportsman also scored 23 points in the match against Wales.
The other preliminary group includes Andorra, Gibraltar, and Monaco. The Moldovan team trained by Oleg Dical will play in the semifinals on July 19.
In the Division C U-18 European Championships of 2007 and 2011, Moldova ranked third.
