National tourism promotion portal launched

A new digital information resource – Moldova Travel – opens up the dialogue about Moldova as about a tourist destination on international markets. The portal, launched earlier this week, is the effort of a public-private partnership between the business community of the inbound tourism, the authorities and development partners, IPN reports.

In a press release, the National Inbound Tourism Association of Moldova (ANTRIM) said the digital platform to promote the Republic of Moldova offers the tourists a wide range of tourist attractions and experiences in Moldova’s regions and includes 16 interactive virtual tours, 25 attractively described tourist routes, with maps and travel yardsticks, including oenological-tourist routes, birds watching, cycling and hiking tours, over 500 listed tourist attractions and useful contacts for planning trips in the Republic of Moldova.

“The cultural-touristic heritage becomes accessible to tourists by this online resource and can persuade people to become our guests. The tourist portal www.moldova.travel is unique in our country by the scale of the informative, educational content that is presented in a creative way and will become an essential engine that will promote the Republic of Moldova’s image as a tourist destination abroad and among our compatriots,” said Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan.

ANTRIM executive director Natalia Țurcanu said the tourism industry of Moldova must adjust and respond to the new market digitization tendencies. “We had worked on this online tourist platform for over three years, alongside a team of professionals, so as to develop a modern, attractive, integrated website with mobile devices that will be maximally available through search engines. Maintaining the website alive and in line with the evolution of the national tourist supply is the challenge of the future,” stated Natalia Țurcanu.

According to Euromonitor, approximately 65% of the decisions to travel to a tourist destination are taken online, based on the accessible content. The hospitality and tourism industries account for 54% of the purchases made online in Europe.
