The theatrical activity in Moldova will be discussed and assessed by national and foreign critics during the fourth National Theater Festival that will take place in Chisinau between December 2 and 8. Minister of Culture Boris Focsa said this year's festival will not be a competition, but a monitoring of the state of affairs in the theatrical field, Info-Prim Neo reports. All the theaters of Moldova, except the Tiraspol theater, will be participating in the festival this year. Every troupe will present the most successful play staged during the last two years. According to Boris Focsa, the organizers of the festival did not take part in the selection of the plays. They were proposed by the creation boards of every participating theater. Discussions about the plays performed during the festival will be held every day at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” starting at 11.00. Theater critics from Romania, Lithuania, Germany and such Moldovan critics as Larisa Ungureanu and Angelina Rosca will participate in discussions. “We want to monitor the theatrical activity, bring the people of art together, emphasize the current trends in the theater world and work out a development strategy for the next years,” Boris Focsa said. Theater critic Larisa Ungureanu expressed her regret at the fact that no young directors are taking part in the festival with plays. “I have older connections with the Moldovan theaters that participated in different international festivals and congresses. I want to see now how Moldova's theaters developed pver time,” said Nina Mazur, theater critic from Germany. The festival will open at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” with the play “The Story of an Ordinary Folly” directed by Alexandru Cozub on Wednesday evening . The “Ginta Latina” Theater, Satiricus “I. L.Caragiale”, the Russian State Theater “A. P. Cehov”, the Studio “V. Cupcea”, “Luceafarul”, the Municipal Theater “Guguta”, “De pe strada Trandafirilor” and “Eugene Ionesco” will also be participating in the festival.
