National selection for Delphic Games announced

The Ministry of Culture, the National Delphic Council and the National Center for Popular Creation announces the selection of candidates for the II Delphic Games, a competitive festival for young performers. The winners will be recommended for participation in the Youth Delphic Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which will take place during June 26 – July 2 in Yerevan, Armenia, Info-Prim Neo reports. Iustina Scarlat, the director of the Center for Popular Creation, told a press conference the Festival aims to encourage young talents, promote national values and enrich them with classical universal creations. The selection criteria include performance skills, degree of mastering genre particularities, on-stage conduct, apparel. The candidates will compete in piano, violin, academic canto, folk canto, pop canto, accordion, folk instruments. The final selection will take place on May 15 at the National Philharmonic in Chisinau, bringing together the winners of the regional pre-selections. Aurelian Danila, the chairman of the National Delphic Council, said the games are gaining in popularity around the world. He said he will suggest the Minister of Culture to organize the Delphic Games of the Council of Europe in Chisinau next year. The First National Delphic Games for young performers in Moldova was held in 2008.
