National Security Commission negatives proposal on road tax on foreign vehicles

The Parliament's Commission on National Security, Defense and Public Order has refused to endorse a proposal introducing a road tax on foreign vehicles entering or transiting Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Democratic Action Party (PAD)said in a press release the refusal was proposed by MP Mihai Godea, PAD's president, who noted in particular the exaggerated size of the tax, of up to 380 euros. Earlier PAD vice president Viorel Chivriga stated that the proposal was not properly assessed impact-wise, saying that it would largely affect migrant Moldovans. If Parliament still adopts the proposal, it will become effective from November 1. Earlier the Parliament's Economy Commission as well as the Government endorsed it.
