The National School Students Council that was constituted this March has come together for the first working meeting. In a press briefing held on this occasion, Minister of Education Maia Sandu said the Council consists of 31 students from 26 settlements of the country. The students were selected at a contest that involved 108 candidates, IPN reports.
The minister informed that a schedule will be agreed and the Council’s meetings will most probably take place quarterly and will last for several days.
The National School Students Council is a body through which the education institutions will consult the students about school maters on a regular basis.
Members of the Council said they will make effort for the schools to ensure transparency in the use of public money. They will also inform the authorities about the ties with the teaching program, the quality of textbooks and teachers’ qualifications.
A member will serve on the National School Students Council for a year.
