The national rugby team of Moldova surprisingly lost to Switzerland away in the Rugby European Champions Cup, Tier 2. Moldova was beaten in Yverdon by 29-26, IPN reports.
The goals for Moldova were scored by Andrei Romanov, Victor Arhip, Oleg Prepelita, Cristian Ojovan, and Mihai Golubenko. The team trained by Mircea Paraskiv won one “bonus” point for scoring four tries and another “bonus” point for losing by only three points. In the group rankings, Moldova has seven points, but the two defeats, to the Netherlands and Switzerland, made the team’s task of winning the group more difficult.
Moldova plays the next match against Portugal in Lisbon on March 11. The group also includes Ukraine and Poland.
