The national rugby squad of Moldova took an important step towards qualification in group 1A of the European Nations Cup. The team trained by Sergiu Motoc on November 16 beat the national squad of Germany 30-15, IPN reports.
At the end of the first half, the ‘outlaws’ were led by 5-7, but the naturalized English player Greig Felston soon scored two goals. Oleg Prepelita was the hero of the game as he scored three touchdowns. The striker of Krasnyi Yar is the best rugby player of Moldova. This season, he was also named the best player in Russia’s championship.
“I thank the spectators for their support. We promised we will beat Germany and we managed to,” said Veaceslav Titica, who also scored a touchdown.
Moldova is now four points away from the current leader of group 1B, Germany, which played by one more game. The ‘outlaws’ have to play three more games in the group – against Ukraine at home and against Poland and the Czech Republic away. The matches will take place next spring. The winner of group 1B qualifies for group 1A.
