National Responsibility Pact signed by two ex-Presidents

The National Responsibility Pact for a European Moldova, launched by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) on November 18, was signed by the former Presidents of Moldova Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the PLDM.

Moldova’s first President Mircea Snegur said even the name of the document reveals its importance “The document is called the National Responsibility Pact. I felt this responsibility from the very first days of the proclamation of independence, when Moldova chose the course to European integration as the main vector,” he stated. According to him, during these days before the Vilnius Summit and after it, everyone must contribute and support the government’s policy as regards the association of Moldova and the EU.

Petru Lucinschi underlined the necessity of joining society around the national idea of European integration. “I regret that society is divided. We should not forget that Moldova for the first time is able to choose to go towards a community with values. The countries that entered the EU are prosperous countries,” he said, adding that Moldova must work hard and go on.

The call for the parliamentary and extra-parliamentary parties, civil society and the ordinary people of Moldova to sign the National Responsibility Pact for a European Moldova was made by the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat. The pact is considered a commitment as regards the European integration course.
