Seven experts delegated by the European Commission came to Chisinau to assess the national research system. At the end of the mission, these will formulate recommendations for the Moldovan authorities, taking into account the priorities defined in the Research and Development Strategy for 2014-2020, IPN reports.
The Media Center of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova said the assessment is carried within the EU research and innovation program “Horizon 2020”.
The Academy’s president Gheorghe Duca noted the importance of engaging more players in the implementation of reforms in science. “We want these changes to be brought about, with the plenary participation of all the players and partners responsible for research, both from the Academy, universities and sector institutions and from private institutions and NGOs so as to increase the efficiency of research and contribute to the sustainable development of Moldova,” he stated.
Gheorghe Duca called on all the partners to support the initiatives proposed by the Academy, underlining the necessity of employing talented young people in Moldova, so that these worked at home.
At the first assessment stage, there was presented the conception for the reformation of science and innovation worked out by the Academy of Sciences.
