National program for implementing plan of action on visa regime liberalization to be presented in Brussels today
The national program for implementing the Moldova-EU plan of action on the liberalization of the visa regime that was approved by the Government on February 17 is to be presented in Brussels today, February 18. The delegation of Moldova is led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The program includes the main reforms, the calendar plan, the responsible authorities and the implementation terms. There are defined measures aimed at adjusting the legislation, shifting to biometric passports, securing the documents and the borders, combating corruption, etc.
According to the document, the ministries and other central administrative authorities will make sure that the program is implemented within the set terms. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will monitor its implementation.
The plan of action on the liberalization of the visa regime for Moldovan travelers was handed over to the Government of Moldova on January 24 by the European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom, who was in Chisinau on a visit.
The European Union and Moldova held the fifth round of negotiations on the Association Agreement in Brussels on February 17. The sides said the very successful outcome of negotiations so far reflects the positive evolution of the political and economic relations between the EU and Moldova. The next round of negotiations will take place in Chisinau in the second half of April.
