The eight winners of the 2024 National Prize were honored today at a ceremony organized at the Government. The Premier includes the diploma, medal and monetary reward worth 100 thousand lei. They were handed over by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, who noted that the awarding represents the society's recognition for people who bring value and share it with the society in the Republic of Moldova and abroad, IPN reports.
"In these relatively complicated and difficult times, it is important to celebrate the work, talent, performance of those who do not tire to develop good and beautiful things. We want as much competition as possible from here on, because there is a lot of talent and innovation in the country, and the task is to capitalize on it," the Prime Minister said.
The National Prize was awarded to Maria Mocanu, folklorist, writer, journalist, folk artist, for her outstanding contribution to the promotion of national values. "My soul was touched by everything that is beautiful and valuable, I cared about what is happening around me, in my country, and I very much want Moldova to be a country of culture", said Maria Mocanu.
Another laureate is Ion Ciutac, doctor habilitated in medical sciences, university lecturer, coordinator in emergency surgery at the Municipal Clinical Hospital "Holy Trinity". "I am proud to have laid the foundations of minimally invasive laparascopic surgery in the world. It has made a revolution in surgery. I want to declare with all responsibility that mini invasive laparascopic laparascopic surgery was not born in the West or in Moscow, but here in Chisinau", says Ion Ciutac.
Denis Nica, Ph.D. in physical sciences, associate professor at the Department of Theoretical Physics "Iurie Perlin" at the State University of Moldova, head of the laboratory and senior research scientist of the Scientific Research Laboratory "Physics and Engineering of Nanomaterials "Evghenii Pokatilov" of the State University of Moldova. "It is obvious, that the scientific researcher does his work and obtains results, not to get notoriety. But when the scientific results are recognized by the society, it is a stimulus to continue research despite all difficulties", Denis Nica said.
Present at the event, Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan said that today is an exciting moment, because the most important resource of the country is creativity, talent, the force of research and realization of the most important and beautiful projects. He assured that efforts will be made to create better conditions for creation and research. Also, work will be done so that the list of laureates will grow every year, or there are still countless personalities to be appreciated and honored, Minister Prodan emphasized.
Among the winners of the National Prize are canoeist Serghei Tarnovschi, film producer Sergiu Cumatrenco, general director and chief conductor of the National Opera and Ballet Theater Nicolae Dohotaru, plastic artist Sergiu Galben, writer and political analyst Nicolae Negru.
