The National Olympic and Sports Committee awarded the best athletes of last year at the Olympic Dinner staged on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Committee’s foundation, IPN reports.
Aaron Cook, who won bronze at the World Taekwondo Championships, was named the best male athlete of the year. European free style wrestling vice champion Mariana Cherdivara-Esanu became the best female athlete of the year. The two weren’t present at the event. Aaron is in training, while Mariana gave birth to her second child.
The Olympic Dinner is held annually at the start of the year to celebrate the Olympic spirit and values and gathers together athletes, coaches, state officials and journalists.
