The high school students who hold diplomas of the first, second and third degrees will no longer be exempted from taking the Baccalaureate exam in the given subject, with the grade of ‘10’ being given to them automatically. The method will apply only to holders of such diplomas won in official international, European and world Olympiads, IPN reports.
According to Minister of Education Maia Sandu, the decision was taken with a view to avoiding corruptible practices and creating equal conditions for all the candidates.
Principal of the Theoretical High School “Gheorghe Asachi” Boris Volosatyi considers that such a reform is welcome as all the children must be put in equal conditions. “The requirements in the national Olympiads cannot be compared with the requirements in the Baccalaureate exams. There are no cameras there and thus no thorough control. The conditions should be equal so that the grade of ‘10’ in the Baccalaureate exam has the same value as the grade of ‘10’ given to holders of diplomas,” he stated.
Under the methodology for organizing and holding the Baccalaureate exams, the holders of diplomas of the first, second and third degrees in the national Olympiads, organized by the Ministry of Education, are freed from taking the exam in the given subject and are given ‘10’ automatically.
