The National Tobacco Control Council approved the carrying out of a national anti-smoking communication campaign whose goal will be to reduce prevalence of smoking among the Moldovans, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Government, a number of activities will be staged to inform and disseminate anti-smoking messages. For the first time, the National No Tobacco Day will be held in Moldova on November 20.
Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Potang proposed that the normative framework on tobacco control should be adjusted to the Convention of the World Health Organizations ratified by Parliament by this yearend. The Council unanimously supported the proposal to promote the bill with amendments to a number of legal acts on tobacco control, which include a number of restrictive elements for those from the tobacco industry.
