More than 10,000 children from kindergartens and placement centers of Criuleni, Straseni and Dubasari districts will benefit from a donation of national dairy products within the social campaign “National products for Moldova’s children”. The campaign is carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry together with its parents. The first donation this year was handed over at “Spicusor” kindergarten in Criuleni on March 14, IPN reports.

In the event, Minister of Agriculture Eduard Grama said it is the fourth campaign of the kind, while the products are intended for 10,300 children from 88 kindergartens and 19 placement centers of the three districts. The products are provided by the Ministry’s partners and members of the National Milk Products and Dairies Association “Lapte”. Cans and juices will be delivered within the next campaign. “The goal of the campaign is to promote national products, from children to grownups. For almost a year, we have intensely promoted the national producers and this is a start for a broad campaign to promote the consumption of national products,” he stated.

“Lapte” Association head Carolina Linte said the members of the Association support and encourage such events. Within the current event, they donated milk, butter, yoghurt and cheese to the value of 50,000 lei. The supplies can be used during at least three days given their use-by date. Such events draw attention to the problems existing in the process of supplying kindergartens with food products. These institutions should be supplied with food by national producers that will never risk providing products of a poor quality.

“Spicusor” director Ludmila Batrancea said the dairy products are key in the children’s menu. These products are used to prepare porridges, pies and other dishes. Their kindergarten is attended by 257 children.

The social campaign “National products for Moldova’s children” was launched last summer and has a two-year program. Within the previous editions of the campaign, children from Chisinau municipality and from northern Moldova were supplied with fruit and vegetables. Also, children from kindergartens and placement centers of Cahul, Cantemir, Taraclia and Basarabeasca districts were offered bakery products.
