The Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of the Chisinau Municipal Council, the Language Faculty of the Moldova State University and the Public Association “Socrate Patform” invite sixth-ninth graders and tenth-twelfth graders to take part in the national literary contest “Letter to Mother”.
The essays can be sent by February 10, while the results will be announced on the eve of the International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on March 8, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the Division of Education.
The contest is also open to students of vocational schools and colleges. The works must be submitted in electronic format to the email address scrisoaremamei@gmail.com (in Romanian) or to pismomame2015@gmail.com (in Russian).
By three awards for the best works will be given in each of the two categories (for letters in Romanian and for those in Russian): first place – 2,000 lei, second place –1,500 lei, and third place – 1,000 lei.
The text of the work must contain 3,500 to 4,000 signs. The participants are urged to use a natural, clear and concise language and to avoid long and confusing sentences. The letter must be written by the student, not by other persons. The teacher can only help the students with useful advice and offer them technical and administrative support. If the work is copied, it will be annulled.
