The National Library of the Republic of Moldova organizes a series of sociocultural activities on the occasion of the National Reading Day and the Day of Remembrance of Grigore Vieru in the Republic of Moldova. The events are designed to promote reading and its importance in the development of individuals and society, IPN reports.
On February 14, at 11:30 a.m., a meeting of Homo Aestheticus Junior Literary Club will be held under the theme “We celebrate National Reading Day together with writer Iulian Filip”, inside the Municipal Puppet Theater “Guguță”. Also on Wednesday, a musical salon entitled “The Poet and the Music” will take place in the National Library’s conference hall “Alexe Rău” starting at 2 p.m.
On February 14, at 3 p.m, the online conference “We are what we read” with Oleg Serebrian, writer, historian, political scientist, diplomat, will take place. The launch of the National Program LecturaCentral, the 7th edition, will also be held online, starting at 3 p.m.
On Wednesday, the Arts and Maps Hall of the National Library will host the launch of the book “DIMITRIE CANTEMIR. WORKS. About the ancient and present names of Moldova. Moldovan-Vlach history. The Life of Constantin Cantemir, aka the Elder, Lord of Moldova”. The launch will take place at 4 p.m.
During February 14-29, the Library’s central block will host an exhibition of documents titled “Homage to the poet of peace Grigore Vieru”.
On February 15, the National Library will host the launch of the book “The spectacular adventure of writing”, signed by Veronica Cosovan and Tatiana Grușco, starting at 2 p.m. The book is intended for all those who wants to travel back in time, to discover interesting things from the history of books, writing and writing instruments.
An exhibition of documents titled “The American Book in BNRM Collections” will be opened on February 16, at 3 p.m., in the exhibitions space of the Library.
The National Reading Day was instituted in the Republic of Moldova in 2022, in connection with World Read Aloud Day that is marked at the beginning of February, and with the anniversary of poet Grigore Vieru, who was born on February 14.
