National Library issues “National Calendar 2022”

The National Library of the Republic of Moldova launched the “National Calendar 2022” in an event held as part of the cultural-artistic program dedicated to the National Day of Culture in the Republic of Moldovan that is celebrated annually on January 15, IPN reports.

According to the National Library’s director Elena Pintilei, who is a member of the editorial board of the “National Calendar 2022”, the encyclopedic volume includes reference names from the fields of science, culture and arts, famous persons from the Republic of Moldova and Romania, primarily from Moldavia and United Romania, as well as reference names from universal culture and civilization. The names were chosen according to their value.

The work has 504 pages and consists of over 300 articles about personalities as well as of general information about anniversary, commemorative and professional national and international events and other important events of 2022.

The calendar covers important events referring to translator Anatol Gugel, poet Spiridon Vangheli, composer Eugen Doga, literary critic Mihai Cimpoi, children’s writer Titus Știrbu, doctor and scientific researcher Nicolae Ghidirim and also significant data, such as the 565th anniversary of the enthronement of Stephan the Great and Holy and the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Bălți National Theater “Vasile Alecsandri”.

Elena Pintilei noted the “National Calendar” is popular with the main state intuitions, diplomatic missions working in the country and abroad, the media, cultural and education institutions, researchers and writers.

In connection with the
National Day of Culture and also with the 170th anniversary of the birth of prose writer, dramatist, poet and publicist I.L. Caragiale, the Natural Library mounted an exhibition of documents entitled “Ion Luca Caragiale- „…a man like a world”. The exhibit consists of about 250 documents from the collections of the National Library, such as poems, novels and plays, children’s books by I.L. Caragiale, dictionaries, encyclopedias and albums.

The exhibition can be visited in the central block, on the first floor, until February 25.

The
National Library also hosted the launch of the book “Opera Omnia. I.L. Caragiale”, the second edition. The book was printed at a publishing house in Iasi.
