The Organization of National-Liberal Women (OFNL), an extension of the National Liberal Party (PNL), condemns the violation of the freedom of speech in Moldova and strongly denounces the intention to close down the radio station Vocea Basarabiei (Bessarabia’s Voice), Info-Prim Neo reports. “We don’t have a television to discuss people’s troubles and answers to the desperate times we live in today. We see how persecuted the journalists who speak the truth are, and so are the papers and radio stations which would always lend an understanding ear to ordinary people’s problems”, reads a statement issued by OFNL on Tuesday, March 11, at a news conference. OFNL was founded on March 8, on the International Women Day, when PNL marked its first anniversary. Diana Crudu, a young PNL member, was elected as president of the newly established organization. “We live in a society which is affected by the masculinization syndrome, including on political parties level. However, we believe it is natural for us to rely on harmony and cooperation – we do cooperate with men, yet they are less willing to do so. We want them to know that we would like to see them as our intelligent and understanding partners”, said Diana Crudu, hoping that the organization would succeed in combining the nerve and the vigor of the youth with the experience of the seniors, both men and women. PNL president Vitalia Pavlicenco stated that the disappointment and the lack of trust among the population, associated with the poor performances of certain parties, made PNL, a woman-led party, to count mostly on women and young people. “We formed OFNL to help women, our supporters and undecided voters mobilize in a very difficult pre-election year, and ahead of even a more difficult election year”, said Vitalia Pavlicenco. She added that an organization of the National-Liberal youth would be created shortly.
