National Liberal Party of Romania claims violation of right to opinion in Moldova
“17 years after Romanians has won their freedom of speech with guns in their hands, blatant violations of the right to thought take place in Moldova”, is said in a statement of the National Liberal Party, disseminated by the Liberal Party of Moldova.
The statement says the violation of the right to express opinion took place through the groundless dismissal of the leadership of “Antena C” and of the TV station “Euro TV Chisinau”, appointment of obedient directors at the two media institutions, as well as using police in suspending the transmission of “Antena C”.
The NLP expresses its concern regarding the decision of the Moldovan authorities to put those who dare to have a different opinion to silence. NLP considers that this fact runs counter to the democracy and is a violation of human rights and freedom of expression.
In this respect, the NLP urges the Moldovan authorities to reappoint the dismissed persons and to resume the broadcasting of “Antena C”.
