National Integrity Commission chairman cannot be named because of somebody from AEI, Mihai Ghimpu

The chairman of the National Integrity Commission cannot be chosen because of a component of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI), the leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu told the journalists, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. ”Civil society delegated its representative, but a component of the AEI does not support this candidate and the Parliament’s legal commission cannot take a decision,” said Mihai Ghimpu. The head of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu told the press that this post should be held by a representative exponent of civil society, while the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat stated that the appointment of the National Integrity Commission chairman will be hastened. The Law on the Creation of the National Integrity Commission came into force on March 1. Under it, the Commission will consist of five members, three of whom will be put forward by the parliamentary majority, while by one by the opposition and civil society.
