The National Housing Agency has build over 2004-2006 nearly one thousand apartments. 24 blocks with a total of 1469 apartments are currently under construction in Chisinau, Balti, Nisporeni, Anenii-Noi, Leova, and Taraclia. During a meeting that brought together constructors, home mortgagees and authorities responsible for the construction sector, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev praised the National Housing Agency as well as the Territorial Development Agency for the good job, yet remarked that there is still much work to be done to develop the construction industry. The head of Cabinet requested the National Housing Agency to present to the Government, within a month, a plan of efficient solutions to add momentum to the building of social housing programme through mortgage schemes. The Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry of Economy and Trade to analyse the pricing of construction materials, suspecting that these are artificially overpriced.
