Starting today the public can call 0800 99999 toll-free to ask information when they get sick. Callers will be advised on what doctor to see, what their rights are, at which drugstore and at what compensation rate they can find the needed medicines, or what family doctor they are registered with. Further, callers are invited to submit suggestions and complaints via this helpline, IPN reports.
The helpline center was inaugurated today in Chisinau by the National Health Insurance Company, with the support of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Estonian Health Insurance Fund.
Attending the launching event, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said the Moldoban health care system is undergoing reform and it is very important that the public knows what its objectives and benefits are. “Our citizens have many questions about the health insurance system and this center can be an extremely efficient platform in this regard”, he added.
“Moldova is a country that can offer experience, which indicates that it has progressed a lot and that it can teach others too”, observed Jarno Habicht, the representative of the World Health Organization in Chisinau.
The service is available Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm.
