National forum discusses youth problems and opportunities

The stringent problems faced by the youth in Moldova in regards to access to information and education, healthcare services and economic opportunities are discussed at the National Youth Forum. The event takes place on June 25 and 26 and is part of the project “Youth Participation in Moldova”, which is supported by the East Europe Foundation, Info-Prim Neo reports. Youth from each district of the country gathered in four work groups, which will debate the priorities of the National Youth Strategy. “We’re very interested to invest in the development of opportunities for Moldovan youth so that they could become the engine of the country’s economic progress”, US Ambassador in Moldova William Moser declared at the opening of the event. “Strengthening the capacities of resource centers for youth means strengthening youth policies in all the regions of Moldova, it means creating a network for youth with whom we’ll have direct and permanent contact”, declared the Minister of Youth and Sports Ion Cebanu. “We’ll approach the issue of lack of funds for youth to develop businesses. Another issue we want to tackle is the allotment of a large sum from the State Budget for medical insurances, which the majority of youth do not use. Promoting intercultural education will also be one of our goals”, forum participant Daniel Voda told Info-Prim Neo. 36 participants at the National Youth Forum have been selected for meetings with several members of the Cabinet, which are to take place today, June 26.
