Moldova’s national football squad suffered defeat in the first match played this year. They lost the friendly against Kazakhstan 3-1, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Kazakhs opened the score through Viktor Dmitrenko. In the second half, the Moldovan players were more active, but owing to a mistake the opponents increased their advantage through Baurzhan Jolchiyev. Moldova’s Anatol Doros scored in the 86th minute. However, the same Jolchiyev ruined the Moldovans’ hopes for a positive result towards the end of the game. “We did not really deserve this defeat. Unfortunately, it was evident that some of the players are not yet fully ready. But the young players had a good performance,” said Moldova coach Ion Caras. “It was the first match this year and many players are not yet ready. We hope we will show better results in the next games,” said halfback Alexandru Onica. The match against Kazakhstan was the first test for Moldova before the 2014 World Championship qualifiers, where they will meet Montenegro, and Ukraine.
