National Focal Point bans holding mass events

The holding of social, cultural, sports and other types of events is banned. A decision to this effect was taken in the meeting of the National Focal Point in the morning of March 10, IPN reports.

In a news conference, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that it was decided to close the Music Festival “Martsishor”. It is recommended stopping activities at theaters, museums, etc. The authorities are initiating discussions with representatives of religious denominations so as to inform them about the risks related to the spread of the COVID-19 and about the measures that should be taken.

As to the educational institutions, the minister noted that several scenarios are being designed in connection with an eventual halt in the teaching process.

The representatives of the healthcare sector said that patients suspected of being infected with the novel coronavirus can be admitted to a number of health facilities. Ten samples taken from eight grownups and two children are now being tested for the coronavirus. The results will be made public later today.

As regards the state of health of the woman diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, the director of the National Clinical Hospital Anatol Ciubotaru said that this improved slightly. The woman got out of the bed and ate independently.

The 44 passengers who sat close to the infected woman on the plane were identified and informed about the necessity of staying in quarantine. Ten passengers could not be contacted as they indicated false data in the epidemiological forms completed when entering Moldova. These are Italian and Romanian citizens.
