National filmmakers learn cinematography developing strategies

Strategies for developing cinematography in the Eastern Partnership countries were presented at a thematic seminar in Ukraine’s Odessa during July 21-22. Moldova was represented by the director of the National Cinematography Center Valeriu Jereghi, IPN reports.

The international seminar entitled “Opportunities for developing audiovisual industry in the Eastern Partnership countries – development programs offered by Creative Europe” was organized under the auspices of the European Commission for the EaP states.

In the seminar, film director Valeriu Jereghi presented the priorities in the work of the National Cinematography Center that was recently created with the support of the Ministry of Culture. He also informed the public about the state of the national cinematography, the problems faced in the field and the cooperation with the foreign partners.

“The European partners assured us that the cinematography sector of Moldova will benefit from support. We were already invited to visit the National Cinematography Centers in France, Georgia, Ukraine so as to study from inside the mechanisms based on which these work,” Valeriu Jereghi stated after the seminar.

The official in charge of the European Commission Dag Asbjornsen, in a meeting with Valeriu Jereghi, reiterated the European Commission’s support for the newly created center, saying that Moldova is encouraged to actively apply for the programs of assistance provided by the Commission, especially within the Creative Europe platform.
