National development strategy “European Moldova 2030” approved

The Government has approved the National Development Strategy “European Moldova 2030”, which represents the strategic view on Moldova’s development over the next seven years. The authorities aim to implement emblematic projects that will fundamentally change the quality of life and will accelerate the development of the economy, IPN reports.

Among the projects is the Chisinau – Iasi highway and at least five road bridges between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, in Giurgiulești, Leova, Cantemir, Ungheni and Nisporeni; two regional hospitals, in Bălți and Cahul; modern district medical institutions; model schools and lyceums in all the main cities; sewerage systems and new or rehabilitated wastewater treatment stations in each locality with over 15,000 inhabitants.

In accordance with the strategy, development-oriented policies will be implemented to support productive activities, the creation of decent jobs, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services.

“The strategy “European Moldova 2030” is a visionary document but it stipulates concrete and achievable measures, being anchored in the financing programs planned for the Republic of Moldova during the next few years,” stated Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.

In July – August 2022, the draft strategy had been debated publicly. Over 300 proposals were received and analyzed by the State Chancellery. In the immediate period, the strategy will be discussed and submitted to Parliament for adoption.
