National Committee on Financial Stability examines Kroll bid

The National Committee on Financial Stability considered the bid received by the National Bank of Moldova from the U.S. company Kroll for performing the next stages of the investigation and recovering the money stolen from Banca de Economii, Banca Sociala and Unibank. After the meeting, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said the Committee will have one more meeting before taking a decision, IPN reports.

“The Kroll’s bid contains several elements that need to be specified, especially as regards the money recovery stage. There is some confusion. We must know exactly how much the state can spend to recover this money. We will meet again next Monday to see what we can do,” said the Premier, without specifying what sums are needed to initiate the recovery of the stolen money.

In another development, the Premier stated that the overdue agricultural subsidies for 2014 were fully paid. He noted that there is a difference between subsidies and compensations as the amount for paying the subsidies was earmarked in the budget, while the money for compensations must be identified in the process of amending the state budget.
