The National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health will declare a state of emergency in healthcare on May 15. Through the platform of this commission, the sanitary-epidemiological rules will be further adjusted, Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated after the May 13 meeting of the Single Command Center.
The state of emergency declared by Parliament for a period of 60 days will be lifted on May 15. The Government will not go to Parliament to ask for its extension. But this does not mean that the observance of the epidemiological rules is annulled, Premier Chicu was quoted by IPN as saying.
The official also said that the compliance with the epidemiological norms leaves to be desired and one of the reasons is the attempt by particular politicians to challenge the imposed fines.
Premier Chicu announced the updated data concerning infections with COVID-19. He said that 252 new cases of infection were recorded on May 13 after processing 1,086 samples. Another 56 beneficiaries and employees of the placement center for persons with disabilities situated in Bădiceni, Soroca were confirmed with COVID-19. Another outbreak was reported in the Transnistrian region, where 39 new infections were detected.
Three more persons succumbed to COVID-19 today, taking the death toll to 185.
