The national boxing team returned with three medals from the European Junior Championships held in the city of Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The best result was obtained by Kiril Slepoi, who became vice-champion in the 52 kg weight category, while Vasili Buzaiji (48 kg) and Ilie Horneț (80 kg) won bronze medals, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Education and Research said that five other Moldovan boxers - Roman Șpac (50 kg), Nikita Negruța (57 kg), Sergiu Goian (63 kg), Alexandru Savchuk (70 kg) and Juliana Tyurnikova (52 kg) – were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

With three medals won, the boxing team of the Republic of Moldova ranked 10th out of the 28 participating countries in the overall rankings.
