The National Bank of Moldova has announced the preselection of specialists in graphic design who will think up the graphical concepts of commemorative and jubilee banknotes and coins issued by the central bank. The chosen candidates will be included in the list of specialists in graphic design who cooperate with the National Bank in numismatic issues, IPN reports.
In a press release, the National Bank says the preselection is open to private individuals and legal entities, including from outside Moldova, specialized in graphics and design. There will be accepted candidates who will present one or several graphical projects (not more than three) – “25 years of the introduction of the Moldovan leu” compulsorily and “a notable personality from the national history and culture” or “monument of history and architecture” optionally. The participants are invited to present a Curriculum Vitae and other personal works, such as drawings, sketches, personal website, etc.
The daft designs and the required information should be put in a sealed envelope with the title “Contest for numismatic issues” and submitted to the National Bank of Moldova situated at 1 Grigore Vieru St in Chisinau, office 143, first floor, or through the email address consultare@bnm.md by September 17, 2018, 2pm.
The first commemorative coin was issued in 1996 and is devoted to the fifth anniversary of the declaration of Moldova’s independence. Now the collection includes 130 themes of commemorative and jubilee banknotes and coins and the series: “Historical events” “Personalities”, “Alley of classical writers in the Public Garden “Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt”, “Famous women”, “Red Book of the Republic of Moldova”, “Sacred places, “Holydays, culture, traditions, “Science and innovation”, “Mansions”, “Sport” and “Moldova’s monuments”.
The commemorative and jubilee coins are made primarily of gold and silver.
