National Bank issues 9 commemorative coins
The National Bank of Moldova launched nine commemorative coins dedicated to prominent people, events, monuments and historical sites of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Two coins, one gold and one silver, both depicting poet Grigore Vieru, open a new series of commemorative coins and themed “The Classics Alley of the Public Garden Stephen the Great”.
The “Prominent Figures” series adds two new coins: one dedicated to singers Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici and themed “Two Twin Hearts” (gold and silver), and another one marking the 100th birth anniversary of singer Maria Cebotari (silver).
A coin depicting the 200-year-old Annunciation Church in Chisinau opens a new series dedicated to places of religious devotion. The silver Old Orhei coin is a new piece in the Moldova's Monuments series.
Another coin marks the 100th anniversary of the Moldovan Football.
The list is completed by a coin depicting folk instruments, which is part of the Moldovan Holidays, Culture and Customs series.
