A National Army soldier, who was serving in the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, mortally wounded himself after firing his gun. The Ministry of Defense said the incident happened on Thursday evening when the contract soldier was performing his duties at the post, IPN reports.

“According to the information provided by the Operations Command Center, the incident occurred at 05:50 p.m. The doctors who arrived at the scene found the soldier dead. At the same time, a team of police forensic scientists is investigating the case,” noted the Ministry.

The contract soldier had been doing his service in the National Army since 2023.
