“To reduce the risk of an escalation, in accordance with the internal regulations applied in special situations, the access to all the military units and institutions of the Ministry of Defense to anyone except the personnel is banned for a limited period of time, depending on the developments,” the Ministry specified, noting the National Army continues to work as usual, does not become involved in the crisis and remains outside political games, IPN reports.
In a posting on Facebook, the Ministry said that under the Constitution, the Armed Forces are subordinate exclusively to the people’s will so as to guarantee the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the country and constitutional democracy.
Also, under the law on the national defense, the administration of the national defense system is an exclusive and inalienable element of the constitutional authorities of the state. According to the Ministry of Defense, as long as there is no political stability in the country, the National Army will obey only the constitutional order.
