Over 30 National Army militaries with seven units of transport assisted the public authorities to transport the aid intended for citizens who were affected by the high winds and heavy showers of July 26 and 27, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Defense said the military personnel during two days helped to load building materials from the Material Reserves Agency’s storehouse in Ocnița town and transported them to Edineț district, at the request of the local authorities and local commissions for emergencies.
Also, the militaries of the Balti and Chisinau garrisons transported materials from the Material Reserves Agency’s storehouse in Chisinau to Edineț district for being distributed to those affected.
The torrential rain and high winds of June 26 and 27 affected over 100 localities in ten districts, primarily in central and northern Moldova. The roofs of over 60 homes and also 18 social, cultural and agricultural facilities were destroyed. There were also damaged crop fields, vineyards and orchards on an area of over 700 hectares. The data are preliminary, but they are updated daily. As a result, the Cabinet decided to issue material goods from the state reserves and to allocate funds for alleviating the consequences of the tempests.
