National Army evacuates Talmaza village

The National Army troops deployed in Stefan-Voda district started to evacuate the residents of Talmaza village on Sunday afternoon, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Defense. A huge wave cracked the dam located in the vicinity of the neighboring village Ciobruciu in two places and could flood Talmaza. Given the created situation, the local authorities decided to evacuate the people living in the risk zone. About 60 families were to be evacuated overall. According to the latest reports, one of the 15 houses inundated in Purcari village collapsed. As many as 180 military men of the National Army have been engaged in flood prevention operations in Purcari, Olanesti, Tudora, Ciobruciu, and Talmaza villages on Saturday and Sunday. Forty-nine persons were sent to Gura-Bacului and Varnita villages to strengthen the dams. The situation in Gura-Bacului is still critical. The flood waters reached several houses there. On Sunday, 66 troops built an additional dam near Ungheni-Vale village, which is threatened by flood waters from the Prut River.
