The National Army marks 22 years of the foundation on September 3. This year, the festivities will be more modest as the budget is tight, but the servicemen will have a short vacation, as usual.
Contacted by IPN, head of the Ministry of Defense’s PR Service Diana Gradinaru said the festivities will start at 08.00 with an official service at the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in Chisinau. At 09.00, flowers will be laid at the monument to ruler Stephan the Great in the center of Chisinau, at the “Grieving Mother” monument of the Memorial Complex “Eternity” and at soldiers’ graves in the Central Cemetery and in “Saint Lazarus” Cemetery. The solemnities will end at 11.00 with the launch of a number of books written by employees of the Central Military Clinical Hospital.
An event to mark the anniversary of the National Army was held at a mall in Chisinau on September 1. It involved about 100 servicemen and the Presidential Orchestra of Moldova. Those who wanted were photographed with the National Army sappers and armament. Military vehicles were placed at the entrance to the mall, while inside there were set up stands with military equipment used in national and international operations.
