The U.S. Government donated modern equipment for the training of National Army explosive ordnance disposal engineers. The batch is mostly intended for the "Codru" engineer battalion and can be used for military training, the Ministry of Defense said, quoted by IPN.
The donation includes bulletproof vests, mine detectors, research backpacks, specialized radiography devices, probes, models of explosive objects, special instruments for moving ammunition remotely.
"Military engineers need appropriate equipment and training, and the assistance from the U.S. is a significant contribution to this process," said Minister Anatolie Nosatyi.
The equipment was donated under the "Humanitarian Mine Action-HMA" Program. Previously, through this program, the engineer battalion "Codru" was equipped with technology and an EOD destruction range was inaugurated. The purpose of the program, started in November 2013, is to develop the capabilities of the National Army's engineer subunits.
