The officers of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) who will have a good performance and will achieve results in the fight against corruption will receive bonuses of over 5,000 lei. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament in two readings. The bill also provides for increasing the salaries of the institution’s civil servants, IPN reports.
CAN director Viorel Chetraru told the journalists that it is an addition of 1.5 official average salaries. “If an officer has a salary of 3,000 lei and has a good performance, he will receive a bonus of 5,320 lei to the salary,” he stated. The Center will set the performance criteria for the employees. Afterward, the subdivision heads will suggest candidates who should be stimulated with bonuses.
According to Viorel Chetraru, only the pays of the Center’s nine pubic servants will be increased. “You cannot have professionals, if you do not remunerate them appropriately,” said the CAN director.
The head of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance Veaceslav Ionita said that the salary of the CAN director, which is now 7,000 lei, will also be raised. Together with bonuses, it will amount to 16,000 lei.
The bill has a financial coverage of 7.5 million lei.
