Public consultations on the projects of the Chisinau General Urban Plan and Chisinau Territory’s Refit Plan have lasted for about one month. Over 1,300 persons, businessmen, civil servants, young people, employees in the budgetary sector, representatives of the local public administration from municipality’s suburbs, who submitted proposals and filled in different special questionnaires, have participated in the public debates. GUP authors are to examine them in order to complete the two documents. Head of Architecture and Urbanism Division Nicon Zaporojan said on Monday, February 12, at Chisinau City Hall session, that the main subjects during the public consultations have focused on several fields: polycentric development, urban-rural space, business incubators etc. Following public consultations, the documents are to be examined by international experts. In compliance with an order of the interim mayor, GUP is to be approved on April 10 by the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). As experts say, similar documents will be worked out for each Chisinau’s residential settlement after approving the Chisinau GUP. The Chisinau General Urban Plan and Chisinau Territory’s Refit Plan have been worked out by “Urbanproiect”, BCI and IHS Romania in compliance with the international practice related to the management and planning of the urban development. The process of working out GUP has included the creation of the institutional framework for elaborating the strategy, data collection and analyses, studies, questionnaires. Eight million lei have been spent for preparing the documents. 80% of these resources have been allocated by CMC and 20% - by UNDP.
