National Agency for Competition Protection will verify recent price rises
The legislative body instructed the National Agency for Competition Protection to examine the rises in the prices of socially-important products and services, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The institution’s director general Viorica Carare said that the Agency already started to verify the latest or expected rises in the gas, electricity, heat and water charges, the bus and train fares, the electronic communications services and the rises in the prices of oil products and socially-important food products like bread, sugar, and milk.
The Agency will perform the investigations in accordance with the Law on Competition Protection, especially Article 7, which refers to the so-called cartel anti-competition agreements, and Article 8 concerning the misuse of the dominant market position.
The results of the investigations will be submitted to Parliament and civil society in the near future.
