The Central Electoral Commission has registered the initiative group that is going to gather signatures for journalist Natalia Morari’s presidential bid.

The initiative group consists of 99 people and will be led by the former Democratic MP Iurie Chiorescu. The signatures are to be submitted by September 20.

Each registered group needs to collect at least 15,000 and at most 25,000 signatures from at least half of the number of administrative units of second level.

To date, the Central Electoral Commission has registered 11 other initiative groups to support presidential candidates, with three more registration applications under consideration. Meanwhile, Valentin Borodachi’s initiative group withdrew its own application.

The deadline for initiative groups to file for CEC registration is August 31.
