Natalia Moloșag changes her mind, decides to keep post of ombudswoman

Natalia Moloșag changed her mind and no longer wants to vacate the post of ombudswoman. She asked to annul the resignation she tendered earlier to Parliament. However, the resignation is on the agenda of the December 9 sitting of Parliament, IPN reports.

Natalia Moloșag said the request to annul her resignation was made following the conclusions of the general inventorying of the property of the Ombudsperson’s Office conducted between October 11 and December 8. Also, she does not want to jeopardize the work of the Ombudsperson’s Office and wants to ensure the continuity of its activity.

A week ago, Natalia Moloșag announced her decision to quit. In her letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Moloșag says she decided to vacate her post following public reports about her job so as not to damage the image of the institution. Press reports said the ombudswoman in her job used the services of a person who was convicted for illegal acts. Natalia Moloșag argued this person was employed at the Ombudsperson’s Office based on a contract for the provision of volunteer services and worked as a driver and also as a bodyguard and didn’t become involved in her duties and didn’t have access to personal data, as it was rumored. Opinion leaders and politicians expressed their concern about the alleged violations committed by the ombudswoman.
