Natalia Gherman: Only EU development model is appropriate for Moldova

Moldova can join the European Union by habitually developing the relations with the EU, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman said in an interview for Radio Free Europe. According to Natalia German, only the European development model is appropriate for Moldova, IPN reports.

Natalia Gherman said the European perspective for a Europe people is a natural solution and option.
“We still need a clear formulation to be eligible for more programs and financing instruments, for continuing the pro-European reformation process in Moldova. A European perspective offered clearly by the EU would mean the ending of tendentious and mistaken interpretations about the vocation of this country and its people,” she stated.

The official noted that the profoundness and ambition of the pro-European reforms implemented in Moldova are similar to the reforms done by the Western Balkan countries that are in the process and joining the EU and have the status of candidate for accession. “This status offers more possibilities of obtaining financing from the structural funds of the EU, which are managed by the European Commission and to which only the states that have the status of candidate for accession have access,” stated Natalia Gherman.

The minister also said that we must focus on those transfrontier projects that will connect Moldova to the European area through Romania and that will radically change the internal situation. To gain more credibility, the provisions of the Association Agreement with the EU, including of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, must be implemented and the political commitment is made to ensure this.
