The Ministry of Finance is working on a mid-term strategy on the pay of public-sector employees. According to Finance Minister Natalia Gavriliță, discussions are on-going with the International Monetary Fund to obtain support for increasing salaries, IPN learned from a press release of the Ministry.

Natalia Gavrilița considers that raising salaries is an investment in the citizens of Moldova. “I strongly believe in employees’ rights, in decent pay and social protection. We must continue raising salaries”, the minister declared during a Wednesday meeting with representatives of the Confederation of Labor Unions (CNSM).

CNSM vice president Sergiu Sainciuc underlined the need to amend the Law on the Public Sector Unified Salary System. “We disapproved of the Law from the very beginning, because we were not able to participate in the process of drafting it and were only consulted shortly before its adoption,” said Sainciuc.
