Natalia Gavrilița to Josep Borrell: European integration is among new Government’s priorities

The European integration is among the strategic priorities of the new Government of Moldova. This will be making every effort to boost cooperation with the EU and to also make progress in implementing the Association Agreement, focusing on a series of reforms, primarily the justice sector reform and the fight against corruption. The statements were made by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița in a telephone discussion with the High Representatives of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Vice-President of the European Commission, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the Premier underlined that among the immediate steps of the new Government is the adoption of laws and decisions needed for accessing the second tranche of €50 million of the EU’s macro-financial assistance. It goes to the amendments aimed at improving the process of examining property and interests and the adoption of a new Customs Code.

Natalia Gavrilița thanked the European official for the assistance offered by the EU institutions and the Member States of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.

The two officials also discussed the finishing of the new association agenda that will stipulate the priorities and objectives for the next seven years and that is to be adopted in the next meeting of the EU-Moldova Association Council. Josep Borrell invited Natalia Gavrilița to pay a visit to Brussels at the end of September.
